Get Ready for Modeling!
Preparing for a career in modeling includes learning all about
the different types of modeling and the special techniques models
use.
A model’s ability to work in a certain field or modeling
often depends on her look or “type”; but age, height
and body style…as well as skill…also come into play.
For example, a store that features prom gowns is going to hire
models who look to be the right age to be attending a prom. A
print ad for a new copier might select a model who looks like
a busy executive.
Barbizon models are trained in all areas so that they fully
understand the business and so opportunities are not limited,
especially for those who may grow and change type.
Fashion Print
Models who work in this area appear in fashion magazines and
catalogs. She could be modeling the latest fall fashions in an
ad for a store or a designer, and she will likely be carefully
posed according to instructions given from an ad agency. Catalogs
have one purpose: to sell clothes, and the model’s showing
style will reflect this.
All of these techniques are taught to male and female students
here at Barbizon of Denver. It’s fun, it’s helpful,
and it’s an important part of becoming a model.
Commercial Print
While fashion models promote fashion and beauty items, commercial
models promote everything else. From games to household products
to food and services, commercial models come in every height,
size, age, and race. They appear in newspapers, catalogs, magazines,
brochures and even on the sides of buses.
